Found on whittlesea-leader Australian Newspaper and posted on Trivium Myspace.
For Trivium drummer Travis Smith, making music has always been a part of his life.
“I would go to school and most of my schooling was band,” he said.
“I was in the marching band, concert band, jazz band, I was in a drum core class ... basically I would have music all day long and I would try to do that for as many semesters as I possibly could without my guidance counsellor freaking out.”
“Then I would go home from that and get behind my kit in my parents’ garage and just play for hours and hours and hours. I would play until 9pm at night because it was the latest my parents would let me play. I was on the other side of the wall when they were trying to eat dinner and watch TV.”
It’s a passion and work ethic that has seen Smith, 26, earn the reputation as one of the most explosive young drummers in the world and his band - a four-piece thrash metal outfit from Orlando in the US - international acclaim as the new kings of heavy metal.
Next month, Australia will get to experience the band first-hand when it hits our shores to promote its fourth studio album Shogun.
“Going to a beautiful place like Australia, we don’t have to ever second guess that. If they want us there, then we’ll be there,”Smith said.
Trivium asked to the fans to choose their best 10 songs, to make tons of copies on CDS and to pass it to everyone: work , school, friends, etc!

Slipknot: “Sulfur” video available + vinyl out for “All Hope is Gone” and Clown’s working on DVD !
The clip was shot on March 9 in the Los Angeles area and was directed by band percussionist Shawn Crahan (a.k.a. Clown) and P.R. Brown, who helmed the last two Slipknot clips, "Psychosocial" and "Dead Memories".
The video depicts the nine members rocking out in groups of three and submerged in water one at a time. The video concept was modeled after a video installation by Bill Viola called "Ascension" that's currently on display at the Des Moines Arts Center.
Check it out now from Warner and Roadrunner Records!
Also, To coincide with Record Store Day - a worldwide celebration of independent retail – “All Hope Is Gone” will be released on vinyl.
Slipknot will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of their debut, self-titled, album being unleashed on the world on June 29.
While the exact details of what the Iowa Nonet will be doing to celebrate remain a closely guarded secret, Slipknot percussionist Shawn 'The Clown' Crahan reportedly spent last week editing content for a very special DVD.
"Working on the special ten year package for Slipknot today," he blogged on his Twitter profile. "I have been editing a DVD together. Wait until you see this stuff!"
How Machine Head nearly fell apart and Altitude interview at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards!
U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine published a five-page cover story on Machine Head in the April 4, 2009 issue, exploring the conflict between the band's vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn and bassist Adam Duce that was revealed in Robb's recent online posting on the group's official web site. Read the text of Ian Winwood's excellent feature in its entirety below, and go to MachineHead1.com to check out the spread, including Paul Harries' great photos.
In December 2008, Machine Head were coming apart at the seams. Then they signed up for regular therapy sessions. Here's what happened...
The tour in support of Machine Head's sixth album, "The Blackening", began in North America more than two years ago. Since that time the band — frontman Robb Flynn, bassist Adam Duce, guitarist Phil Demmel and drummer Dave McClain — have racked up more road and air miles than any band since Metallica toured in support of their own "black" album at the start of the '90s.
In that time, Machine Head have rounded the world many times over. In the United Kingdom alone they have shared stages with, amongst others, Metallica, Slipknot, Trivium, Mastodon, HIM, Arch Enemy and Dragonforce. By the time the Bay Area thrashers return home from the road at the end of this coming summer, they will have been on tour for more than two and a half years.
Is it any wonder, then, that life has become a bit fractious?
It was on November 20 last year that things came to a head. The details of the conflagration need not detain us here — indeed Flynn and Duce, the two combatants, offer slightly differing accounts of what happened that night — but the essence of the story is as follows…on Roadrunner Records Canada at:

New York, NY: Massachusetts' finest hard rock purveyors, Killswitch Engage, have announced the title for their eagerly anticipated fourth album for Roadrunner Records. The title is Killswitch Engage. The album, produced by Brendan O'Brien (AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine) and co-produced by guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, will hit stores on June 30.
Some of the working track titles for the album include "Reckoning," "The Forgotten," "Light in a Darkened World" and "Starting Over." Vocalist Howard Jones offered a little insight into Killswitch Engage, saying, "It was time for us to step outside of our comfort zone and try something a little different with this record. It definitely still sounds like us, but we needed to be refreshed and take things a little further."
The singer also comments on the album being the band's second self-titled effort of its career, saying, "When we all couldn't agree on an album title, someone suggested we just keep it self-titled and we all pretty much agreed...gives it the feeling of a fresh new beginning."
