Slipknot commemorates 10th anniversary of their landmark debut album!

Special Hometown show planned for 9/9/09!

Des Moines, IA – Grammy Award winning hard rock powerhouse Slipknot have announced a special edition release on Roadrunner Records of their seminal self-titled debut album. This special CD/DVD piece will commemorate the 10th anniversary of Slipknot’s first album’s release in 1999. Release is set for 9/9/09. The CD will feature 25 tracks, including the original album as well as rare demos, remixes, rare b-sides and more.

The companion documentary, entitled of the (sic): Your Nightmares, Our Dreams, is packed with behind the scenes footage of Slipknot from 1999. This never before seen hour-long piece was directed by M. Shawn Crahan, who combed through his vast archives to compile the definitive chronicle of this important time in Slipknot’s career. This inside look features both live and backstage footage from around the world. The DVD also features all the music videos from their debut cycle as well as other surprises.

In another first, Slipknot will host a one day festival in their hometown of Des Moines on 9/9/09. The show will feature 2 stages and a host of bands with Slipknot headlining. The second stage, sponsored by Jagermeister, will feature all local bands. An official announcement will be made soon.

Trivium Announces “Into the Mouth of Hell” Tour!

Trivium will embark on first North American headlining tour since 2006 this September!

They will blanket the US and Canada with 63 performances throughout the tour!

Whitechapel, Darkest Hour, Dirge Within around out the bill…

Florida metal veterans Trivium and tour presenter Hot Topic are pleased to announce the forthcoming “Into the Mouth of Hell We Tour” an extensive, 63-date trek which marks the band's first solo headline tour since 2006. Whitechapel, Darkest Hour and Dirge Within serve as support for the first leg of the run. The tour kicks off in September and will run through October. More dates for the first leg will be announced in August and additional dates and support for the second leg will be announced in September.

Trivium are currently headlining the Jagermeister stage of the second annual Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest. They are known for being voracious road dogs, having toured America, separately supporting Slipknot and Lamb of God. They have also appeared as part of Korn's Family Values package and have supported Iron Maiden.

Trivium have come up with a brilliant way to allow their live show be something that the fans are able to enjoy repeatedly. This tour will feature a special promotion, where at participating venues, each ticket buyer will be able to re-live their experience at the show, as they will have the option to use their ticket stub, via a unique code, to redeem a free, full digital soundboard recording of the Trivium show that they attended. Fans will be able to use the bar code number on their ticket as their unique code to redeem their music at Trivium.org.

Trivium's Matt Heafy has this to comment about the tour: "North American headline tour... we meet again. It's been far too long since we've toured North America as a headliner and we're back with a vengeance. It's our time to come in for the final waves of "Shogun" touring and party with our friends in the USA and Canada. Our live show, without a doubt in my mind, is now the strongest it has ever been; our sets are more diverse, tighter than ever and we've got some of the sickest current metal bands out with us to bring you one hell of a tour. PureGrainAudio.com conducted an interview with Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover.

Here’s a little part of it:

PureGrainAudio: You’ve been in Megadeth now for just about five years. How did you first meet Dave and eventually get asked to join the group?

Shawn: Well I met Dave through Glen who’s my brother, he was with Dave when he first formed the band, Glen was the first guy to get in the band, with the reformation of Megadeth. He had the gig about a month before I got the call and that’s kind of how it filtered through.Once, you know, he had Nick Menza in the band and it didn’t work out for whatever reason so Dave and Glen talked about it and said “hey what do you think about calling Sean?” So that’s kind of how it went down, this was right before the tour started, about six days before the tour started so it was a real quick thing and the next thing I know I was in a plane to Arizona to go to rehearsals. So that’s initially how I met Dave.

Dragonforce: Withdraw from Kerrang! Show!!!

Dragonforce have pulled out of their forthcoming Kerrang! Week of Rock Show at the HMV Forum, London, which was due to take place on July 29th. Tickets can be refunded at the place of purchase.

The band have issued the following statement:

“It is with great regret we have to cancel the show on July 29 due to unforeseen personal circumstances of one of the band”, a spokesperson for the band told K! “This is obviously not something the band have decided lightly but we see no option. And no, we don't want to be more specific, it’s kinda personal, so rest assured, there is no option.”

Trivium: Metal Hammer interview - “‘Why do you suck?’, that’s not a fucking good question!”

Metal Hammer interviewed Matt and Paolo from Trivium for a Spanish Inquisition and even after the interview done they kept talking…here’s some part of what they said:

Metal Hammer: Thanks guys, that was great.

Matt: “That was fun. I want more jerks. I like the hate shit, I wish there was more.”

Paolo: “We should do a thing where it’s only people who hate us can send in questions, so we can answer them. Like the dicks who write in, ‘Why do you suck?’, that’s not a fucking good question.”

Matt: “I bet anyone that says ‘why do you suck’ would suck at guitar. People can hate our music, but they can’t hate us because we’re good people who believe in being good to each other. They can’t say we suck at our instruments because we’re probably better than them, unless you’re Dragonforce, who’re better than us at guitar.”

Matt: “There was this kid back home who I helped out. He made tribute CD for a Disney cartoon. A fucking Disney cartoon. I recorded it for $10 a day, back when I had a shitty digital 8-track. After that he came to our House of Blues show in Orlando and Paolo pretended like he wasn’t in the band and this kid was mouthing off like, ‘Matt Heafy’s dad bought him a studio, that’s why they’re signed now’. And I saw this kid in our line to buy a CD and get it signed.”

Paolo: “When he saw me he was so embarrassed. All the kids in the queue were like ‘he’s in the fucking band you idiot. He kept apologising.”

Matt: “I did this kid a favour. He made a concept album on a Disney cartoon. I didn’t even laugh man. And he wanted to make up all those rumours and shit. It’s like, dude, my dad didn’t buy me a studio, I got an $250 8-track for Christmas one year.”

Metal Hammer: You’ll have to start the band’s biography with that story…

Matt [in a fake officious voice]: “Back when Matt’s dad bought him the Roadrunner contract, he made love to pornstars and drove cars through flaming buildings. And that’s why they’re millionaires right now.”

Paulo [laughing]: “They make it sound like Matt’s dad just goes up to the bar and yells, ‘hey, studios are on me!’.”

Matt [laughing]: “You know he paid off Maiden, that’s why they’re bringing us out. I think we should just make up our own rumours from now.”

Machine Head pull out of Sonisphere!

Machine Head pull out of Sonisphere!

In a surprising turn of events, Machine Head announced recently that the band will no longer play the upcoming Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth, due to "the disrespect and indignity offered by a promoter who won't honor [their] agreement..."

This will come as devastating blow to the bands fans who were looking forward to seeing the band play, however, the band have issued a statement on their official website and are appealing to their fans to show some understanding with regards to what was a very difficult decision for the band to make.

Their statement reads as follows:

“It is with the utmost disappointment that we must announce that Machine Head will not be playing the Sonisphere date at Knebworth in the U.K. on August 2nd. In a turn of events that has left us absolutely baffled, the promoter of the U.K. Sonisphere festival recently placed, unbeknownst to us, Limp Bizkit in our 3rd slot on the festival. Seeing as the running order was a significant part of the negotiation and agreement between us and the promoter, and the fact that we had been advertised in that slot since the festival's announcement, you can imagine our surprise when we were "told" that we would now be playing in the 4th slot, under Limp Bizkit, and bizarrely, it was actually expected that we would quietly move down the bill without issue.

We will not.

Machine Head turned down the U.K.'s Download Festival, a festival we are very fond of - which incidentally, had us above Limp Bizkit - to commit to the Knebworth festival, as we felt a closer kinship to the bands performing this year. In an effort to make this situation in Knebworth work, we have spent more than a week striving to resolve this issue in a proper manner. Unfortunately, that did not happen.

So we have regrettably been left with no choice but to cancel our appearance rather than stand for the disrespect and indignity offered by a promoter who won't honor our agreement. While we know that our fans will be furious about this situation - as are we, beyond words - we trust that you will all understand our position, and we encourage you to voice your opinion about it as loud and clear as possible.

The rest of our festival dates across Europe, including the other Sonisphere dates, as well as our headline of the Wacken festival remain unchanged.”

Paolo cam!!! This is Trivium at Download 2009!

Trivium’s Paolo set up his cam when he was on stage at this years Download festival, headling the second stage, and he got some great footage of all of you mo fo's going CRAZY!

The band have just returned home to the USA following their festival run through Europe. They will take a few weeks off before heading out to the Mayhem Tour in the US for the summer.
