Dragonforce talk Guitar Hero!

Dragonforce talk Guitar Hero!

Daily Fix correspondent Flula Borg caught up with British shredmasters supreme Dragonforce at last summer's Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival to talk to about having the hardest song ever to play on Guitar Hero and their mutual love of German cuisine.

Watch the chat below:

Dragonforce's debut LP, "Valley Of The Damned", will be reissued this spring via Spinefarm Records.

This wonderfully explosive nine-tracker — set for U.K. release on May 24 — proved that the band's signature style (expansive material, soaring vocals, guitar pyrotechnics) was very much in place from day one, with songs such as "Black Fire", "Disciples Of Babylon" and the title track itself showing a band both ambitious and accomplished beyond its years.

In order to make this 2009 reissue something special, all of the material has been both remixed and remastered (by guitarist Herman Li and regular producer Karl Groom), a bonus DVD has been added and the artwork generally brought up to date. The DVD is especially interesting as it contains a number of different elements, including a live version of "Valley Of The Damned" filmed/recorded in Osaka, Japan, on the band's first-ever visit to that country. Add to this a selection of footage captured and commented on by the guys themselves, and you have an overall package that provides both the musical goods plus an insight into what goes on behind the scenes — which, in the world of Dragonforce, seems to consist of near-constant insults and banter, healthy amounts of "drinking" plus the inappropriate consumption of corned beef!

DragonForce’s Beatdown Tour!

DragonForce’s Beatdown Tour!

Check out the article below posted by Pollstar. It talks about the upcoming U.S. tour and the amazingly difficult “Through the Fire and Flames” on Guitar Hero III. You can also catch a video of Herman struggling with his own guitar parts in the game!

"The U.K.-based power metal band kicks off the tour at the House of Blues in Anaheim, Calif., April 15 and winds down at The Norva in Norfolk, Va., May 10.

Additional shows include stops at The Venue at Playmakers in Fargo, N.D. (April 21), Bogarts in Cincinnati (April 26), Town Ballroom in Buffalo, N.Y. (May 1) and Higher Ground in So. Burlington, Vt. (May 7).The band is offering loyal fans a limited number of discounted tickets because even though the economy may suck, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t rock out and have a good time.

I’m not the only one that can’t beat “Through the Fire and Flames,” an unlockable bonus song on “Guitar Hero III” which is also played automatically during the credits after the player finishes the game on any difficulty level. The track was even too tough for DragonForce guitarist Herman Li himself, shown failing the song at only 2 percent complete on the “hard” level, as shown on YouTube in the “Guitar Hero III – Making of with Herman Li” video.

The tune is the opening track from DragonForce's third album, Inhuman Rampage and features twin guitar solos by Li and guitarist Sam Totman. On "Guitar Hero" co-opt play with two gamers on two guitars, each player can choose to play either Li’s part or Totman’s part.

Heroes of Our Time,” the first single from the band’s most recent release, 2008’s Ultra Beatdown, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance."
