Megadeth's Dave Mustaine interviewed by Harmony Central at NAMM!

Megadeth's Dave Mustaine interviewed by Harmony Central at NAMM!

Harmony Central conducted an interview with Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine at the Marshall booth at this year's NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, which is being held January 14-17, 2010 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.

Watch the chat below.

Marshall Amplification is introducing the new Dave Mustaine special edition MG microstack guitar amplifier, dubbed the Megastack. The three-piece unit includes a 15-watt compact head with four channels, plus two matching speaker cabinets — one angled and one straight. Each cabinet is loaded with a full-range 10" Celestion speaker. Available in extremely limited quantities in the U.S., the amplifier looks like a compact version of Mustaine's legendary full sized touring rig that he uses with Megadeth.

Mustaine will be signing autographs at the Dean Guitars booth (booth 5466B)
- Friday, January 15 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Saturday, January 16 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine to begin recording his radio program next week!

Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine to begin recording his radio program next week!

Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:

“It is official! On August 31st between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., I am going to be in the Clear Channel radio station down here in San Diego recording my first of 36 months' worth of my new radio program.”

“I am going to have a contest to pick the name of my show. The prize may be a guitar, it could be a pass to a show, it could be any of a number of things, but most importantly, it will be my way of thanking you for helping me christen our new show. It will also be the beginning of a new period in radio, where we are going to go back in time, back to when radio really mattered, and back when the programmers listened to music and not to people who forced us to play what they want and not what we want. I am even going to play bands like Mercyful Fate, so just let it be said. I am also going to play some bands that you may not like and you may even want to change the station about.”

“I hope that you won't leave, because I want to build a relationship with you and talk with you every month, and hopefully every week, and then, if this all goes according to plan, every day! So, get ready to make history with me, and with you!”

Megadeth's new album, "Endgame", will be in stores on September 15, and fans can get the inside scoop on the album with FMQB's Megadeth radio special, "Inside Megadeth: Endgame", airing on radio stations nationwide starting September 4.

Touring can get a lil monotonous and so you have to take advantage of those off days, which Megadeth certainly did on a recent day out in Germany when the band and crew decided to head out and cut lose with some go-karting!! Dave walks us through it in the video below…

Megadeth: Dave Mustaine reveals another song title!

Megadeth: Dave Mustaine reveals another song title!

Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update from the "Priest Feast" tour, also featuring Judas Priest and Testament:

"Today I was able to talk with Mike Gitter [A&R executive] from Roadrunner Records, who has graciously allowed me to make this [new Megadeth] record and to let me do it without some of the ridiculous things that he was ordered to tell me, and I think we are going to have a really good record.”

"Lemme see, I sent him the music for Track 2, and he said, 'This just got my dick hard,' which suggests success. I am really excited about the lyrics and the title that I have chosen for this penultimate offering to Roadrunner.”

"We are playing tonight in Dortmund, Germany, after a day of go-carting, an evening of Mongolian bar-b-que, and all around socializing with band and crew over the last two days off. I usually do this in the first week or so of every tour to let every one know what I am looking for, what I expect, what I will tolerate, and what I won't.”

"We have a first-rate tour again, and although we have already had one casualty, we have replaced and resumed the race at the pace that only Megadeth and its world-famous crew could achieve.”

"Of course, that is skipping the fact that I crashed my kart yesterday at approximately 25-30 kmh and the hard bucket seat cut up along my body to contour me shape and aerodynamically keep the kart as unaffected by the wind or 'drag,' as it is called. As the three nano-seconds expired from the first impact and my body caroming into the wall with the edge of the seat cutting into my heavy jacket, and making contact against the delicate rib area directly under my arm, about where my elbow hangs.”

"My initial grunt barely muffled the clear distinct cracking sound of my rib breaking, and the electrical signal that my body felt was excruciating, but nothing as bad as the mental anguish I have put myself through since, every time I think about getting hurt out here. I am always so careful, and if I wasn't so stinking competitive, I wouldn't feel like a used heavy bag right now.”

"We are doing great with the progress of finishing the writing of the new record out here. I have chosen a working title and I think that it is going to stick, and the record starts out with an instrumental that is very much like 'Into The Lungs Of Hell', and there are ten more songs that are really fantastic. The is one song on here that will probably touch a lot of people; 'The Hardest Part Of Letting Go'."

STV's John Kilbride conducted an interview with Dave Mustaine shortly before Megadeth took to the stage at Glasgow's SECC arena on February 16, 2009 as part of the "Priest Feast" tour with Judas Priest and Testament.

Regarding Megadeth new song "1,320", the first title to be confirmed from the band's forthcoming album, Mustaine said, "It's a song about drag racing. A quarter-mile track in America is 1,320 feet long. On our web site right now everyone is asking, 'What the hell is 1320?' It's a measure of distance from the start to the finish line."

He continued, "I like adrenaline. I used to skydive, I've been into martial arts since I was 12 and there is something about adrenaline that makes me excited. I went to drag racing event one time and they had these nitro funny cars and I was hooked."

According to Dave, the new Megadeth album will be worth the wait. "It is supposed to be released in September," he said. "I think it's a very exciting record.”

"Shawn [Drover, drums] has been a fan forever, James [Lomenzo, bass] has been with me now for several years and Chris [Broderick, guitar] is a guitar virtuoso so when they say they are excited about it, it is really saying something."

Dave Mustaine talks about the progress on their new album!

Dave Mustaine talks about the progress on their new album!

Dave Mustaine of Megadeth has posted on the bands officislal site at:
http://www.megadeth.com/home.php

about the progress made on the new album so far...
"We are on the last day or so of drum tracks, and barring the debacle at the top of the session, we have been able to maintain the typical Vic quality with the recording.”

Chris Broderick has been coming down more and more and it really is starting to feel like a band again (sometimes it feels more like a session when we break after a tour and the time lapse, before we feel like we are in stride again).

James [Lomenzo, bass], of course, lives down here and has been working with me daily, and has been relentless in his work on this project and the additional stuff that we have been doing for the last few months.I expect James and Chris to start playing within the next day or so, as well as myself, and I am really excited about going to the NAMM, and after that, there is just the rehearsals and the flights and we are once again... on the Killing Road.

According to a post on Blabbermouth, Dave Mustaine recently told Revolver magazine that Megadeth's upcoming CD will contain:

"...stuff that's melodic like nobody's business, stuff that's heavier than hell, and stuff that's a combination of both...The way I write, I'll play a riff and tape it and save it. And if I don't use it now, I'll use it later. The very first song I ever wrote, 'Rust In Peace… Polaris', didn't appear on anything until the fourth Megadeth record. Right now, there are about 20 songs that are in the making, and there's another good 25-to-30 hours worth of guitar riffs on tape. And I've also got a lot of old lyrics I've assembled over my career. Some of it's relevant to this day and age; some of it is stuff that, if I released it, would probably get me in a lot of trouble. Those songs deal with a lot of the anger that I felt when I was younger and reading things like [the 1971 underground manual for making homemade explosives] 'The Anarchist Cookbook'."

Don't forget that all the current members of the band are blogging at the official Megadeth MySpace on an ongoing basis, so subscribe now!
