Dave Mustaine: The album is done!

Dave Mustaine: The album is done!

Dave Mustaine has issued the following studio update at TheLIVELine.com:

"I'm at the studio right now, Vic's Garage, and we are done! We're just right now finishing the last couple of notes on the new record, and Andy's getting ready to pack his bags and head up to Los Angeles tomorrow to get ready to fly back home on Thursday. Man, this has been a long, grueling, enduring process but it's been so worth it, and I'm so excited. I'm more excited about this record then I've been in any record since back in the 1980's. I would say, probably since, well definitely since "Rust In Peace" there's nothing that's excited me this much - maybe "Countdown", but this is just absolutely insane."

Killswitch Engage update studio by Mike d’Antonio!

Killswitch Engage update studio by Mike d’Antonio!

Here’s a little message from Mike d’Antonio from Killswitch Engage on their progress for their upcoming album…

It has been a long time since I used 2" tape to record. As a matter of fact, I believe the last time was in 1996! But this is the way Producer, Brendan O'Brien operates.... OLD SKOOL. In January we all packed up and headed to Atlanta to record drums. The process went fairly smooth, drums were finished in a week and we were able to hang with our bros in Mastodon. Needless to say, many a drunken night was had and it was my distinct privilege to be thrown up on by my buddy Brent. A memory I will never, ever forget.”

”After much discussions, we decided to move everything back north for guitar and bass duties. At this point Zing Studios in Westfield, MA is like a second home to us. Fast forward a week later (after finishing some guitar rhythm tracks) and I step in for Bass recording. Fun stuff ... it felt like old times with Adam D at the helm of the Pro Tools rig. I finished up the last few bass fixes on Super Bowl Sunday at Adam D's home studio. Beers were flowing HEAVY for sure. Whew, what a relief to be done with my tracks. With the pressure off, it is now time for me to amerce myself in designing the layout for this record.”

”Currently, Howard is in Atlanta working with Brendon and Adam on vocals. It shouldn't be too much longer now.”

Machine Head’s Robb Flynn checks in from the road!

Machine Head’s Robb Flynn checks in from the road!

Robb Flynn has checked in from the road on the band official MySpace blog. He talks about (amongst other things) being on tour with Metallica.

"We're out with Metallica right now in America (that's right bitches!!... main support to METALL-I-FUCKIN'-CA in America!!!) and we're super stoked about it! Most of those shows have been pretty sweet...The stage is cool too. Having played in the corner of a room for over half of my life, it took some getting used to playing in-the-round, or, "in-the-rectangle" if you wanna get technical. First night in L.A. was a disaster, but after that we got it down. We definitely command it now, and we *have* to command it. If we don't, it's so easy to just get lost up on that giant stage, and lose the attention of an audience who, for the most part, have never even heard of us..."

Slipknot tour was amazing! I really can't go on enough about it. 10 1/2 weeks with Slipknot, man, I've wanted kill some bands after 2 weeks, but after 10 weeks with them, I miss all those dudes already. Japan fucking ruled!!! 8 truly amazing shows!!! The crowds there are out of their fucking MINDS!!! And despite the Loudpark Festival being a technical nightmare of biblical proportions for us (I played the majority of the show without a guitar), the crowd was jaw-droppingly brutal!!! They chanted "Machine Fucking Head" for 15 minutes after we left the stage!!!??? Scotland, Manchester and New York City, you better watch your backs, you have new rival in the circle pit department, and they may have already stolen the crown... check out the pit when the fast part kicks in during Imperium... ZANG!!!???”

"I have five of the nine that appear to be mine completely written and arranged.", writes Dave. "There are two more that are Shawn's, and James has a potential part for a song, as well as Chris.
