Roadrunner Records has signed a new band!

Roadrunner Records has announced the signing of the Las Vegas rock band 7th Son.

7th Son — featuring guitarist/vocalist Christopher Babbitt, guitarist Mikey Cross, bassist Andrew Cushing and drummer Alan Doucette — are a rag tag crew of young turks who formed the band two years ago in their native Sin City. The band recorded three fist-pumping, guitar-driven anthems with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette (Incubus, Escape The Fate, Story Of The Year) earlier this year. Those songs caught the attention of Roadrunner Senior VP of A&R Monte Conner, who quickly signed the band. Of their signing to Roadrunner, Babbitt said, "Our battle cry since we started playing dives in dirty Vegas to being nobodies signed to the biggest hard rock label in the world has been 'Be shred or be dead,' so we have a lot to live up to and Roadrunner was the only label we knew who would have the balls and the vision to stand behind that credo."

Cross has a more tongue in cheek outlook on their new label home, saying, "We can't wait to meet some of our esteemed new label-mates and sleep with their girlfriends." Lock up your daughters, girlfriends and wives, because 7th Son have arrived!

7th Son are currently recording their Roadrunner debut in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with Baskette manning the boards. They will commence recording in mid-November. The band is managed by Dark Angel Management, LLC (Trivium, Seemless, Dirge). For a taste of 7th Son, go to www.myspace.com/7thsonband.

Welcome to that new Roadrunner Records band!

Cradle of Filth new album is now in store! Album version is available but for the Special edition of "Godspeed in the Devil's Thunder" you gonna have to be patient...is getting out November 4th.

"Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder" is conceptual and is based on the well-documented, true-life fall from grace of a shadowy historical figure named Gilles de Rais, a wealthy French nobleman who was one of Joan of Arc's brothers-in-arms. He was best known, however, as a prolific serial killer who mixed prayers with his nightly murders as well as an aspiring alchemist. He was accused of a panoply of crimes, among them heresy, demonology and kidnapping. There's even an extreme fringe sect of historians who question de Rais' true status, with some convinced he was framed. Regardless of viewpoint, leave it to Cradle of Filth to dissect de Rais' biography, exploring subversive, inflammatory historical subject matter in its lyrics, taking an unjaundiced look at a controversial figure in European history, set to epic black metal music. The band profiled Hungarian countess Elizabeth Bathory, who attempted to preserve her youth by bathing in the blood of virgins, in the past and now moves forward by framing their latest album around the story of de Rais.

Cradle of Filth will make its much-anticipated return to U.S. soil this winter for their first headline tour since the Viva La Bands tour in fall 2007. Satyricon will serve as main support, while Greek metallers Septicflesh (no written as one word) will open the show. The tour runs for six weeks.

So if you didn’t do it yet, go buy your tickets for the show because it’s gonna be something to see!

Trivium will a be on a radio show

Florida-based metallers Trivium and former The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins will be the featured guest on UK's "The Rock Show" on Sunshine Radio with Jeff Collins on Sunday, November 2 between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. (UK time).

The band then finished with a version of The Darkness "I Believe In A Thing Called Love".

New Corey Taylor interview + show cancelled

Brand New interview with Corey Taylor

In a brand new interview with Australia's The Age, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has described the band's shows as "out-and-out war."

He said, "It really taxes the body and spirit after a while. This isn't just four dudes rolling in their street clothes. This is a production, a battle and a celebration. There are so many moods that go into this, sometimes you can get lost in the shuffle. We really rely on each other. If one of us is having a bad day, we know. We say: 'Guys I need you tonight'. And they got ya."

On the positive message of the band's music:

"I've always tried to blend the darkness with a big dose of positivity. With our (dark) imagery, it obviously get lost a bit. But for me it's always been about giving people a reason to live rather than a reason to give up."

On the band's stage show:

"There's obviously a genre of theatrical rock, but for us it's just a piece of the puzzle. It's always been about the content and why we wear what we do. There's a lot more art than there is shock. Kiss and Alice Cooper really broke down a lot of barriers, but we're different to them. I've always felt that we were like if Pink Floyd started a metal band. I doubt you're gonna see Slipknot shoot cereal anytime soon — Kiss really have become the Disney of rock."

On the other hand...I've got a bad news for people who were suppose to attempt the Israel Slipknot show...

Show cancelled...

According to Metalist magazine, Slipknot's previously announced November 2, 2008 concert at at Hangar No. 1 at the Fair, Trade and Convention Center in Tel-Aviv, Israel has been cancelled by the band "as a result of sudden personal and family conflicts."
No further details are currently available.

Slipknot scored an instant No. 1 on European Top 100 Albums chart with its latest album, "All Hope Is Gone" (Roadrunner), according to Billboard.com. Slipknot's chart-topping European debut followed consecutive No. 2 entries on the aggregate chart for its last two albums, 2004's "Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses)" and "Iowa" in 2001. The new set arrived at No. 1 in Finland and Switzerland, and enjoyed three further No. 2 debuts, in Germany, Austria and the United Kingdom, the latter on sales of 49,000.

Devildriver: New Interview Available!

Devildriver: New Interview Available

The world's "leading metal journalist" Johnny Orlando Jr. learns about freeloading, UFOs and parenting in his latest interview with Dez Fafara and Jeff Kendrick of Devildriver. Recorded at the Chicago stop of the band's 2008 tour with Napalm Death, the eight-minute chat can be viewed below:

Devildriver drummer John Boecklin sat out the band's appearance at the one-day Ozzfest in early August due to the fact that he was getting married the next day. Filling in for Boecklin at Ozzfest was Daath's Kevin Talley, who has previously recorded and/or toured with Dying Fetus, Chimaira, The Black Dahlia Murder, The Red Chord, Hate Eternal, M.O.D., Misere Index and Suffocation.
Devildriver's current studio album, "The Last Kind Words", sold a little more than 14,000 copies during its first week of release to debut at No. 48 on The Billboard 200 chart. This figure represented around a 40 percent increase over the opening-week number of 2005's "The Fury of Our Maker's Hand", which premiered at No. 177 with sales of 10,400.

Killswithch Engage is back!

Killswitch Engage is back!

Their video for the song "This Is Absolution" can be viewed at:

http://ca.youtube.com/user/RoadrunnerCanada.

Killswitch Engage bassist Mike D'Antonio told MTV's Metal File in August that the New England-based band would enter the studio this month to begin work on its next album, with plans to release the disc in early 2009.

D'Antonio remarked, "When we start on this next one, we'll just bring our demos to practice, and we'll listen to them, judge them and start rearranging the parts that need to be rearranged — or we just start jamming on what sounds cool." The bassist added that most of the material he's written so far for the project sounds "fast."The group expects to hit the road next March in support of the CD. The new disc will follow Killswitch Engage 2006 album, "As Daylight Dies".

The band's cover of DIO's "Holy Diver", issued on the special edition of the CD, became a surprise Top 10 rock radio hit late last year.

Now, we just have to be patient…

Message from Shawn "Clown" Crahan of Slipknot...

A message from Clown:

Slipknot percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan has released the following message regarding the band's upcoming tour of Australia:

"Get ready, maggots! It's been 10 years and in that 10 years of sacrifice we're finally able to bring what is Slipknot to Australia — the real set, the real deal. Hydraulic drums and percussion rigs, massive set, explosions, lights and more. We're on fire and out for blood."

This will mark the first time in Slipknot's history that the band is bringing its full rig to Australia. That means the group is traveling with over 11 tons of equipment, including Joey Jordison's hydraulic riser that raises him 15 feet in the air and flips him onto his back, Clown and Chris Fehn's hydraulic risers, and, of course, lots and lots of pyro everywhere they can get away with it. A couple of shots of the stage set-up that Slipknot will be unleashing on Australia can be found below:

Clown has signed on to do a weekly column with Headbanger's Blog where he will show some of the photographs he's taken through the years and give a description of them. The first of the columns is up now...it’s call:

Slipknot update...

Don't forget the premiere of the "Dead Memories" full video, October 25th on Mtv2.
MTV Europe Music Awards: You still can vote for Slipknot!
If you didn't have the chance to look at the Slipknot interview from Music Choice's "Rocktober" go at:
Finally, below, there's the interview with Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor and the Beat Magazine:
On wearing a horror mask for a living:
"They're very, very uncomfortable. They tend to chafe and cut into your face".
"They've always represented more of the artistic side, the expressive side. Sure there's the shock value at first but then you really get into the mindset and the reality behind it and then you're like, 'OK, I see it now.' I mean, we never started wearing them to hide behind in the first place, that was something that kind of came along later that the fans kind of foisted on us. For me, it was more about getting in touch with the person inside that just needs to be heard because we all have different sides to us. I've sat on a lot of anger and a lot of rage for a long time so for me it's the best way to get that out".
On Slipknot's newly released fourth album, "All Hope is Gone":
"See, I think this album is heavier than the last album by far. 'Vol. 3' was a lot more melodic and mellow but on this album there's a lot more attitude. I think people wanted this album to be mellower and I don't see where they get that from. Sure, there are songs like 'Snuff' and 'Gehenna', but those are the only two slower tunes on it whereas 'Vol. 3' had four. I just think we just have a really good way of putting something together and when you got something that ain't broke, you don't try to fix it. We all went away and wrote a bunch a stuff and brought it in and just started putting it together. And I was really excited when I heard the music."
"The songs still had the same vibe and the same frenetic energy. We were able to craft something that, well you know, it's been four months and I'm still listening to it! And I really tried to get more involved on this record; I did a lot of the arrangements and just wanted to step it up and be there for the band. This time I tried to take the reigns and help lead the project and they're probably the best vocal performances and lyrics I've ever laid down."
On getting Slipknot's first #1 album in the U.S. with "All Hope Is Gone":
"It was one of those things you hope for in life but never expect just with the way the industry is. We were damn near #1 all over the board and for me that's bigger than any Grammy, it's bigger than any American Music Award; it's the people standing up and saying, 'We really like this.' It's one of those accomplishments I'm really proud to say we were able to achieve".
"I mean, this band has probably done a lot more for me than I can ever hope for. It's allowed me to put away money for the kids' college funds, it's allowed me to buy and own my own house and buy a house for my mom — which is the first thing I ever bought. So it's enabled me to take care of the people I care about."
