Port Amoral pop up and say hi!

Port Amoral pop up and say hi!

New boys Port Amoral have updated their official Myspace blog with news pf what life has been like for them in the past couple of years and and what they have coming up in the not too distant future.

Hatty posts: The last two years have been kind of a whirlwind, with lots of ups and downs. We’re all really jacked up that Roadrunner finally signed on to be a part of the PA team. Everyday is a day closer to the release of our debut album “Villains.” In the next few months things will be happening really quick. We are currently having Travis Smith (art guru and sex god behind many of your favorite bands art works) working on the art for the album. A new MySpace with brand spanking new photos will be accompanied by a couple new tracks (and hopefully a sexy album trailer) off the upcoming debut will be up in the next couple months…

Soulfly: Croatian TV report available!

Soulfly: Croatian TV report available!

Croatian public broadcasting company HRT aired a report on Soulfly's March 11, 2009 concert in Zagreb, Croatia. The five-minute clip, which includes a brief interview with the band's mainman Max Cavalera, can be viewed below:

Also, bassist Bobby Burns was interviewed by the "Metal Eye" show on Z1 TV when the band performed in Zagreb, Croatia on March 11, 2009. Watch the seven-minute chat here:

Regarding the songwriting process for the next Soulfly album, Max Cavalera recently said, "I am working on new songs with Marc [Rizzo, guitar], a little bit. We're thinking about making the songs a little shorter, so if you can imagine maybe a little bit like Minor Threat mixed with [Slayer's] 'Reign In Blood' mixed with Soulfly, with still some world music, but much smaller, and the songs not so long — shorter. It'll be more aggressive than [last year's] 'Conquer' [album] even, because it'll be shorter — it'll be like when Slayer did 'Reign In Blood', [that] kind of thing. I don't know why some interviewers talked to me and said that they thought that the album was gonna be less aggressive, more like [2000's] 'Primitive', which I don't know where it came from, because I never said that. In fact, I just started working on the album on this tour, so it's only been a month. But this is the official news right now — it's gonna be more aggressive, faster, shorter."

Megadeth: Update from Chris Broderick!

Megadeth: Update from Chris Broderick!

Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick has issued the following update from the "Priest Feast" European tour, also featuring Judas Priest and Testament:

"There are only three shows left on this tour and it has been one of the best tours I have had so far."

"I was lucky enough to have some time off to see a few cities; Milan, San Sebastian, Barcelona, Lisbon, and a little of Paris. This was all due to the days off between shows and the decent weather we are having right now. When seeing this, one really gets an appreciation for the history and culture that Europe has."

"The next time I am over here, I hope to be able to see some more of Scandinavia, and other countries in the north."

"One other thing I want to comment on is all of the fans that have been to see multiple shows, Carlos and Miguel, and the French connection (whom I will see tonight hopefully), to name a few. I appreciate the support that you show us."

"Finally I want to mention that I will have a number that anyone can call on TheLiveLine web site [a service launched by Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine that enables musicians to connect to their audience over the phone] coming soon."

"Now it's back to practicing the solos for the upcoming CD."

Tentatively due on September 1 via Roadrunner Records, Megadeth's forthcoming LP will be the group's first with Chris Broderick, who replaced Glen Drover at the end of 2007.

The recording process for Megadeth's twelfth studio album began on January 7 at the band's own Vic's Garage studio in San Marcos, California. The CD is once again being helmed by British producer Andy "Undie" Sneap (Arch Enemy, Nevermore, Exodus, Machine Head), who worked with Megadeth on the band's last album, "United Abominations", which came out in May 2007 via Roadrunner.

Paolo's Interview on The Scream Queen!

Paolo's Interview on The Scream Queen!

The Scream Queen recently conducted an Interview with Paolo while he was in Los Angeles a few days ago:

Scream Queen: How would you say how the turnout has been for the All Hope is Gone Tour, despite the financial chaos going on right now?

Paolo: This is definitely one of the tours NOT affected by the financial downturn. I'll tell you, we were on a tour in Europe that was following this tour around that we weren't on yet, and the European leg kicked the shit out of everyone's. Right now in the States, it's pretty much doing the same thing. Luckily, we're a part of it. [laughs]

Scream Queen: Is there anything that is different you've noticed for this tour than some of your previous ones?

Paolo: Yeah, there's about… I'd say six-seven thousand more people! [laughs] But, it's been great, there's a lot of new people out. I definitely feel like we're making progress on this one because of all of the new people are out, really feeling what we're doing.

Sream Queen: How do you, the bassist, try to establish that certain connection with the audience?

Paolo: How do I? Um… Hmm..
[background voice: Muscle milk!]
Yeah, muscle milk! Just like Travis said! [laughs] I don't know… I just go out and just be as energetic as possible. I mean, that's really all you can do. You just act like a crazy madman and try to play my bass parts as good as I can. [laughs]

Slipknot notches 1st active rock #1 with “Dead Memories”!

Slipknot notches 1st active rock #1 with “Dead Memories”!

Grammy Award-winning hard rock act Slipknot just wrapped another hugely successful headline tour across the U.S. and continue to rack up accolades for its fourth album, "All Hope is Gone". The current single, "Dead Memories", has just landed at the #1 position on R&R's Active Rock chart. This is the first #1 radio single of the band's career, which follows up their first #1 on The Billboard 200 sales chart in August of last year. The video is also the most played at Fuse this week. Additionally, Slipknot was recently awarded with an EMMA Award for "Best International Act." The EMMAs are the Finnish equivalent of the Grammys.

Vocalist Corey Taylor will be DJing at the first Revolver Golden Gods Awards, to be held on April 7 in Los Angeles. Other members of Slipknot will also be in attendance at the event. The band will make a headlining appearance at Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio in May and will then head to Canada for a series of dates as part of their massive "All Hope is Gone" world tour. They will spend their summer headlining major music festivals in Europe, including Download, Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park. 2009 also represents the tenth anniversary of the band's debut, the multi-platinum "Slipknot".

New CKY bio release – Get the lowdown on the upcoming album “Carver City”!

New CKY bio release – Get the lowdown on the upcoming album “Carver City”!

CKY have released the an updated band bio in preparation for the release of their new album “Carver City”.

The bio, which you can read few parts below, details the tensions that have rocked the band- tensions that led to the delay in Carver City's recording and therefore release, and to members of the band not speaking to each other for extended periods of time.

The band were halfway through the writing of their forthcoming album, Carver City (which was recorded and produced by Ginsburg at his new Studio CIG in Pennsylvania), CKY found itself unable to resolve internal issues, resulting in the band being put on the backburner. For an entire year, Ginsburg and Miller did not speak, nor did Miller and Margera. This extremely uncomfortable time away from the thing they loved most would allow the band to overcome the many lingering obstacles standing in the way of their greatest effort to date, Carver City, which hits stores May 19th.

“We could have just said, ‘Fuck it. We’re not going to finish the record.’ But no one could make that decision.” says Ginsburg. “When we finally got together to resume the sessions, we didn’t talk about the past or what had happened. We didn’t look back. The passion came back blazing, in a distinctly different, effective and inspiring way. Yeah, We took a year off by accident. But, I really think it helped the music greatly.”

“I'll never forget the first time that I saw metal's most magnificent masked marauders. I was 14, and it was on OZZfest 1999, the band's first "official" national tour before their now legendary self-titled album dropped. These nine psychos from Iowa basked in danger and evil beyond anything that the crowd had ever experienced. Dream Theater announces tenth studio album!

Dream Theater announces tenth studio album!

Progressive metal veterans Dream Theater have announced “Black Clouds & Silver Linings” as the title of their tenth studio album. The band commenced work on the album–their second for Roadrunner Records, following up 2007's Systematic Chaos—in October of last year. Roadrunner will release the record on June 23. In addition to the standard version CD, the album will also be available on vinyl LP, as well as a three-disc Special Edition CD that will include the full album, a CD of instrumental mixes of the album and a CD of six cover songs, which will be revealed at a later date. Six weeks prior to the June 23 street date, Roadrunner will release one cover song per week through digital retailers. The artwork was once again designed by Hugh Syme (Rush, Iron Maiden) and will be unveiled today via www.roadrunnerrecords.com and www.dreamtheater.net.

Drummer Mike Portnoy and guitarist John Petrucci are once again at the helm as producers, while Paul Northfield is mixing the record. The band will embark on a world tour in support of the album beginning in Europe throughout June which will be followed by the second edition of the band’s Progressive Nation tour featuring Zappa Plays Zappa, Pain Of Salvation and Beardfish throughout North America in July/August. A video for "A Rite of Passage" will be shot in late March.
